8/16/2023 0 Comments Icf blocks sizes![]() ICF Foundation – A below-grade foundation or basement wall could be six, seven, or more courses high, with an above-grade wood frame structure bearing on top of the ICF wall. The top of the wall is connected, either with anchor bolts or metal straps cast into the concrete. The wall is laterally supported at the bottom by footing dowels and by the floor system bearing on the ICF concrete core at the top. Build this wall to full height and place concrete monolithically to the full height. ICF Crawl Space – A crawl space is typically a two- to three-course short wall assembly, which may have minimum backfill pressure. The backfill may be slightly uneven on the wall being laterally supported at the top by a slab or floor assembly. These small walls are typically poured as continuous monolithic walls from bottom to top. ![]() ICF Frost Wall – Frost walls are a few courses of ICF block in the ground with backfill on both sides. This is a basic overview of the “‘how to” for each: In all applications, and in all ICF core sizes, the bottom of the ICF wall is connected and laterally supported at the footing or slab with reinforcement dowels. The type and size of ICF structures relates to the sequencing of the installation. In the review of the installation sequencing, it is very important to understand the technical principles and applications of lateral supports and cold joints. Similar principles apply, but it is recommended that an engineer design the detailing and location for these. Note that in some larger projects, due to time allocation versus volume of concrete to be placed, a vertical cold joint may be required. Cold joints are commonly installed in above-grade walls between the concrete placement per floor level. Cold joints create a rough horizontal seam in the wall that must be installed with rebar dowels to structurally tie the two layers of the concrete wall together through the joint. Cold joints are NOT allowed in below-grade foundation walls that will be retaining backfill. Cold joints are allowed in the construction of above-grade concrete walls but must be designed with overlapping rebar dowels and located at an appropriate spot in the wall assembly. This creates a cold joint or a physical seam in the wall. Walls not only support the vertical or point loads of the building but are subjected to a continuous live load, laterally/horizontally, which may cause walls to move or shear from soil pressure, wind pressure, or earthquakes.Ĭold Joints – Cold joints are horizontal when the placement of concrete is interrupted or delayed, allowing the first level of concrete to set (harden) before the next level is placed. Lateral Support – These walls are basically designed to be laterally supported at the top and bottom, meaning that the walls are physically connected to a footing, slab, floor, or roof system, preventing and securing the walls from moving inward or outwards from any lateral pressure. For ICF applications, there are two major technical/structural terms that every installer must be cognizant of and follow - lateral support and cold joint. Naturally, the build sequence applies to the size of the building and some major structural principles, but generally, ICF construction sequencing is similar to conventional construction: footings, foundation walls, main floor and main floor exterior walls, second floor and exterior walls, roof. For a new ICF installer there is considerable information from the ICF manufacturers about how to lay the blocks, but one of the main questions being asked on social media is about the construction sequencing or phasing - how many courses to install and when to place concrete. 8/16/2023 0 Comments Split pupil anime![]() ![]() NO -precision full -medvram -lowvram -no-half-vae -opt-split-attention -opt-split-attention-v1 Stable Diffusion benchmark - GPU - Spreadsheetĭon't be suckered in by the P100 appearing to have doubled rate fp16, pytorch doesn't seem to use it.Įvery graphics card model has a slightly different result. Eyes with a lot of highlights - something which you see sometimes in anime art, and which gives the characters a "starry sky" look - isn't something you usually see, and is therefore almost always unrealistic. Last but not least - lots and lots of highlights. This cat is photographed while looking at a ring light (used for portrait photography), which causes weird reflections. If you have weird light sources, you get weird reflections. Note the square, and the reflection of the scenery outside. This means no shadows, as the dog look directly at the light source - which is only blocked by the photographer, causing them to look dark.Īnother full-on reflection, where the cat looks up at a window. In this case, the dog is looking up at the photographer. Usually happens when there are several lamps, or something obstructs part of a larger one and splits it into two.įull-on reflection. Note that the light comes from below in this image, which means the highlights are at the bottom of the eye too. Usually when there's a single small (but often strong) light source, like the sun or a lamp. Those usually are some form of white/light rectangles or squares. If the sky is blue, they tend to have a bluish tint. ![]() This happens outside, and can create large curved highlights. An interesting adaptation to those eyes is that they can roll around, and thus (almost) always stay horizontal no matter how the animal holds their head: Some smaller predators like mustelids and mongooses also have them. This means they are generally preferred by prey animals, like deer, horses, goats, antelopes, etc. Horizontal pupils allow for a very wide field of vision - which makes it easy to see anyone who tries to approach, as well as keeping an eye (pun definitely intended) on the ground. Larger cats and wolves/coyotes/dogs/their closer relatives have round pupils. Round pupils allow for good depth perception, and are usually preferred by larger predators who hunt during the day (however, this is not a must, and most can hunt at night too - helped by the tapetum lucidum which we'll cover later in the article). In general they are preferred by (smaller) predators who hunt close to the ground, like smaller felines, foxes, but also crocodiles and snakes. In addition to this they allow the animal to judge short distances well. (Vertical) slit pupils allow for great expansion and are thus good for animals who are active during different light conditions, including at night. All of those have different advantages, and are thus preferred by different types of animals. 8/15/2023 0 Comments Black baby girl with blue eyes![]() Hair gets its color from pigment, and the amount of pigment in the hair affects its exact shade. ![]() In truth, the genetics of hair color is just a little more complicated than your basic biology class might claim. Black People With Blue EyesĬusters’ research suggests that Black people with blue eyes are affected by the same OCA2 genetic mutation in the same way any other human is, despite the mutation originating in Europe. ![]() More than 80 percent of the inhabitants of Estonia and Scandinavian countries have blue eyes. Europe was the epicenter of the blue-eye gene mutation. Where Do You Find The Majority of Blue-Eyed People?Įurope has the widest variety of eye color, according to Custers, who adds those of European descent are the largest population of blue eyes. There are some exceptions, as health conditions such as Waardenburg syndrome and ocular albinism can affect pigmentation and as many as six different eye colors. It is believed that almost every blue-eyed person on earth today inherited the same gene mutation from the same source, according to research from Edmund Custers, who has spent more than a decade in clinical research writing about human anatomy and physiology. Because the melanin concentration is too low to produce brown eyes, blue eyes are produced instead. Scientists believe the mutation altered the amount of melanin produced in the iris of the eyes. Melanin is the substance that gives skin, hair, and eyes their color. The OCA2 gene formerly called the P gene is a gene code that produces a pigment called melanin, according to scientists with Medline Plus. “But a genetic mutation affecting the OCA2 gene in our chromosomes resulted in the creation of a ‘switch’ which literally ‘turned off’ the ability to produce brown eyes.” ![]() “Originally, we all had brown eyes,” Professor Hans Eiberg from the university’s Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, argues in the study. The team found that all the participants have the same DNA sequence for blue eyes, thanks to a genetic mutation that took place an estimated 10,000 years ago. The Science Behind Blue EyesĮarly research from the University of Copenhagen studied 800 men and women from several countries with blue eyes. To understand how this uncommon occurrence can happen, you must first look at the origins of blue eyes, which scientists say is a fairly newer phenomenon. A majority of these people are of European descent, however, Black people can be bornwith blue eyes even though it’s pretty rare. Blue is the second most common eye color globally, with an estimated 8 to 10 % of people having blue eyes.
